Rabbi Yeshua and His Rabbinical Teachings

Rabbi Yeshua’s Rabbinical Teachings

Part One  Rabbinical History

Who are the Rabbis and where did they come from?

The first Rabbis appeared in the time of the Babylonian  captivity.

The Great Assembly of 120 is thought to be the first Rabbinate (Sanhedrin).

Such men as Ezra, Nehemiah, Zechariah, Haggai, as well as those who are

listed in Nehemiah. Chapter ten maded up the Great Assembly.

Is there a bases in the Torah for Rabbinical Teaching and Leadership.

Deuteronomy 17:8-12

If cases come before your courts that are too difficult for you to judge -- whether bloodshed, lawsuits or assaults -- take them to the place the LORD your God will choose. Go to the priests, who are Levites, and to the judge who is in office at that time. Inquire of them and they will give you the verdict.  You must act according to the decisions they give you at the place the LORD will choose. Be careful to do everything they direct you to do.  Act according to the law they teach you and the decisions they give you. Do not turn aside from what they tell you, to the right or to the left.  The man who shows contempt for the judge or for the priest who stands ministering there to the LORD your God must be put to death. You must purge the evil from Israel. (NIV)

WHO MUST KEEP YESHUA TEACHING?

OR IS ONLY SOME OF HIS TEACHING FOR JEWS ONLY?

Is there a bases for Rabbinical Teachers in the New Covenant and who must follow them?

Matthew 23:1-3

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: "The

teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.  So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they

do not practice what they preach. (NIV)

Hebrews 13:17-18

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.  Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. (NIV)

Matthew 5:17-19

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.  I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.  Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

What does the Talmud Say?

  1. The relationship of the Rebbe to his Talmadim?
  2. What does the Talmud say about those who reject teachers?

What is the Purposes and Authority of the Rabbi’s and in what areas?

          To Guard Judaism.

To individually as well as collectively maintain the philosfical, spiritual, historical nature of Biblical Judaism and its practice among the Jewish people and their converts, as well as to provide continuity of identity for the future.

To give ruling in matter of Biblical as well as Social

order and practice. (Halacha, Menhag and Traditions)

To act as Judges in matters of Civil and legal disputes

for the members communities.

Unlike the Christian or Church world the Rabbi is often

seen as an extension of each and every family in His

community.

Where does the Authority come from? And Who is a Rabbi?

A Rabbi’s authority comes from the Rabbis that have gone before him. Some obtain this title by the laying on of hands (even if the candidate is not formerly schooled. Among the Hasidiam and the Haradim this is the only method of becoming a Rabbi with Shmeka (official ordination)

Where other like the Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Renewal and Messianic primary depend on educational institutions and degreed programs to determine who is a Rabbi, yet they reserve the right of the laying on of hands.

Do all Rabbi’s Agree?

No and Yes, The “Yes” is that most all Rabbi’s agree on what is called Biblical Law, the authority of the Scriptures in this there is little argument. However in the “No” part of the answer the spectrum is very large. Rabbis argue in the Talmud and other text on the “how” to keep the Torah not on if it should be kept.

Rabbi Yeshua’s Rabbinical Teachings

Part Two Identifying a New Covenant Rabbinical Teaching

Lesson Two

In the New Covenant there is first simple language markers which identify Rabbinical teaching and opinions. These markers will often express what was the except standard of the day.

RABBINICAL MARKERS AND TOOLS ARE TO BRING ABOUT

THE RABBI’S DERECK AND HALACHA

(The methodology or the practice of scripture)

We have two new words for you.

“Dereck”  Hebrew for   “Road”

“Halacha” Hebrew For   “The way”

WHEN YOU READ THE FOLLOWING TEXT WHAT DO YOU SEE?

John 14:1-6

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.  You know the way to the place where I am going."

Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (NIV)

Matthew 7:13-14

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (NIV)

Mark 12:14

They came to him and said, "Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? (NIV)

Acts 9:1-2

Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. He went to the high priest  and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. (NIV)

Acts 19:9

But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. (NIV)

Acts 24:13-14

And they cannot prove to you the charges they are now making against me. However, I admit that I worship the God of our fathers as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that agrees with the Law and that is written in the Prophets, (NIV)

THE MARKERS IN THIS TEXT.

Matthew 5:20-40

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. 23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. 25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. 26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. 29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. 30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. 31  It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: 34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: 35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. 36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. 37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. (KJV)

LET US READ THE STORY OF THE GOOD SAMARITAN

A TEACHING FROM THE  TORAH OR THE TALMUD?

Luke 10:30 – 37

In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.  A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.  So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.  But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.  He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him.  The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. `Look after him,' he said, `and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'

"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"  The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." (NIV)

                              Leviticus21:1-4

The LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them: `A priest must                        not make himself ceremonially unclean for any of his people who die,  except for a close relative, such as his

mother or father, his son or daughter, his brother,  or an unmarried sister who is dependent on him since she                          has no husband -- for her he may make himself unclean. He must not make himself unclean for people                                              related to him by marriage, and so defile himself. (NIV)

                              Leviticus21:10-12

"`The high priest, the one among his brothers who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and                   who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair become unkempt or tear his clothes.  He must not enter a place where there is a dead body. He must not make himself unclean, even for   his father or mother,  nor leave the sanctuary of his God or desecrate it, because he has been dedicated by the anointing oil of his God. I am the LORD. (NIV)

                              Numbers19:11-13

"Whoever touches the dead body of anyone will be unclean for seven days.  He must purify himself                         with the water on the third day and on the seventh day; then he will be clean. But if he does not purify  himself on the third and seventh days, he will not be clean.Whoever touches the dead body of anyone and    fails to purify himself defiles the LORD's tabernacle. That person must be cut off from Israel. Because the water of cleansing has not been sprinkled on him, he is unclean; his uncleanness remains on him. (NIV)

In Yeshua story why did he appear to be  upset with the Levit and the Cohen? What does the Torah say about touching a dead thing? Where they suppost to make them selves unclean?

Matthew6:9-13

9 "This, then, is how you should pray:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

  • your kingdom come,
  • your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
  • 11  Give us today our daily bread. 12
  •   Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13  And lead us not into temptation,
  • but deliver us from the evil one.' (NIV)

What the Heck is Binding and Losining??

Matthew 16:13-21

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"  They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."  "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"

Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.  And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, (look at Strongs 1577 and laugh)   and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."  Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. (NIV)

Matthew 18:16-20

16 But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that `every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'  If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.  "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.  "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.  For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." (NIV)

Yeshua and the Temple

Matthew 21:10-15

10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?" 11 The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee." 12 Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13 "It is written," he said to them, "`My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a `den of robbers.'" 14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. 15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant. (NIV)

TO TOUCH OR NOT TO TOUCH THAT IS THE QUESTION

Mark 5:27-30

When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.  At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" (NIV)

Rabbi Yeshua’s Rabbinical Teachings

Part Five Identifying the New Covenant Rabbinical Teaching of Yeshua

Understanding Rabbi Yeshua Relationship to the Law!

Matthew5:13-20

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."         35 This is what the LORD says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar --  the LORD Almighty is his name: 36 "Only if these decrees vanish from my sight," declares the LORD, "will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before me." 37 This is what the LORD says:

"Only if the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth below be searched out will I reject all the descendants of Israel because of all they have done,"

declares the LORD.

38 "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when this city will be rebuilt for me from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. 39 The measuring line will stretch from there straight to the hill of Gareb and then turn to Goah. (NIV)
