Shammash Ariel first began as a home fellowship gathering for an Erev Shabbat Torah study in January of 1997.  The three couples meeting who were together began asking the G-d of Israel for guidance in creating a Messianic Community in Pueblo, a place where both Jews and Gentiles could worship together as one. /i//COMMUNITY_1.jpg

In late 1997 Shammash Ariel obtained a Torah Scroll, and with a minyan present, held its first Torah services.  At this time it became apparent that the congregation was lacking Hebrew language skills so Hebrew classes were begun.  Withing the following year there were more than 30 people who had graduated from various levels of Hebrew studies.  In addition, the first bar and bat mitzvahs were celebrated.

Shammash Ariel continued to grow and after just three years it was decided that the facilities the synagogue was meeting in was to small for the congregation, which had grown to 80 people.  It was decided in February of 2000 to construct a new complex.  By August of 2000 Shammash Ariel had purchased an empty three acre lot and construction was underway.  After facing many obsticles and delays, including a fifteen month stay in a rented facility, construction was completed on the new home of Shammash Ariel in October of 2002.
